Absolutely loved our experience at Strait Off the Boat. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxed and very kid-friendly, and you honestly can’t beat the beautiful waterfront view. I ordered the special barramundi on spinach and mushroom risotto and wow… it was to die for. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. Highly recommend if you’re after great food, a family-friendly vibe, and a stunning spot to enjoy it all.

Fresh, generous seafood with standout service
We had a great meal at Straight Off the Boat Seafood Bar and Restaurant. The food was fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious. We ordered the seafood basket and the crumbed prawns, and both were cooked perfectly with great flavour. The service really stood out — all the staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. It made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable.

Fresh local seafood in a standout location
Well done to Strait off the Boat Bar and Restaurant in Ulverstone. A great addition to our town. The seafood is fresh, local and beautifully cooked. We shared the seafood platter for two with the addition of a half garlic butter crayfish. The fried food you could tell was cooked in really hot, clean oil. The combination of oysters three ways and the jumbo prawns were also delicious. The quality was great and the prices were very reasonable. What a location too! So glad to see the premium position used well. The service was also lovely. We will be back

Beautifully cooked fish and top quality lunch
Went for lunch to Strait off the boat seafood Restaurant in Ulverstone today and are we impressed!!! Ordered 2 fish meals, blue eyed trevalla & ocean trout. They both were cooked and presented beautifully. Thanks to the chef. Would have them again, so flavorsome, with herbed mash, broccolini & carrots, seafood sauce to pour over your fish with scollops & prawns added. Top quality restaurant food, well done. The staff are very pleasant to deal with, observant to your needs and friendly. Wait time was not long at all. Will definitely be back, highly recommend this restaurant.

Fresh crayfish, excellent food, and an awesome setting
Ive attended this restraraunt (different buisnesses) a lot over a few decades and seen it florouish and flounder. What has the setting potentially for the best seafood restraraunt in Tasmania nestled on the banks of the Leven River has had a rolacoaster of a ride over the decades. Ownership has just changed hands again with the new owners having access to fresh seafood and are they back. Service was great , food was excellent and the setting was awesome. Venue was the busiest i have seen it for years and most importantly they had fresh crayfish on the menu which can be hard to find in some locations around Tasmania in a restraraunt. I will be returning soon, great job and keep up the great work.

Excellent meals and attentive, polite service
We recently had dinner at the newly-opened Strait off Boat restaurant in Ulverstone. We had stopped going to the previous restaurant as the consistency of food had become a little hit and miss. I have to say we were delighted with our meals last Friday. The food was excellent. Our entrees were tasty and very nicely presented, and our mains were very delicious. I had blue grenadier, which just flaked off the fork and was so fresh. The other main of salmon was finished with nothing left on the plate. The service was attentive and polite, without being intrusive. We will certainly be returning to Strait off the Boat restaurant!

Delicious scallops, garlic prawns, and impeccable service
Had the crumbed scallops and sweet potato fries – delicious. My friend had the garlic prawns and commented they were the best she has had in ages. Service was impeccable. Loved sitting out on the balcony. We were thoughtfully placed in the shade due to the hot afternoon sun. Definitely recommend this place.

Fresh local fish, fair prices, and sunset views
Went here for dinner as a group of three and had a great time getting to know the place with the new owner. The menu features fresh local fish which I love, and the owner has a lot of knowledge to share about where his fish comes from and how to prepare it properly. For how fresh it is, it is reasonably priced. The service from the team was great, and they were happy to accommodate us on the balcony to watch the sunset. It’s a great place for a quiet dinner, with great water views and delicious local seafood. Thanks guys!
